William Shakespeare - A Man of Mystery
Ralph Richardson

An interesting presentation

The Chairman welcomed members and visitors and made several announcements concerning events which had recently taken place and might be of interest to those present. She then welcomed the speaker for the evening Mr Ralph Richardson of Redditch. Mr Richardson is a well known speaker at our Society having given a number of presentations to us over the years and his chosen subject for this evening’s presentation was -  “William Shakespeare – A Man of Mystery”.
Living close to Stratford upon Avon, as most of us do, we all think that we know all there is to know about William Shakespeare but we were in for a big surprise and a most entertaining evening. Mr Richardson commenced his talk with a resumé of what Stratford was probably like in Shakespeare’s day and then went on to surmise what Shakespeare’s family might have been like and what they may have done for a living. He then postulated as to when and why Shakespeare may have decided to go to London and pursue a career as a playwright. He went on to say that very little is actually known about Shakespeare’s life but his name and his plays have stood test of time and are renowned around the world. There are a couple of internet sites which provide such information as is known in more detail; just enter his name into Google to read more.
